Celts coast to League Final

Cootehil Celtic 3 - 14           Cornafean 1 - 01

Our Under 14 team advanced to this year's Roinn D League Final with a 21 point win over the visiting Cornafean team making it the eighth win in a row.

Right from the start, the Reds were no match for the more powerful and hungier Celts and once Tom Hayes opened the scoring in the first minute with a fisted point, the Hoops left looked back and steam rolled their opponents.

Ryan Reilly, Caoimhín Carney (3), Dean McMullen and Hayes again all rasied white flags to put Cootehill in a commanding seven point lead.

Hayes grabbed the first goal of the evening right after Cornafean were denied at the other end with Celts' keeper Daire McCarney pushing a fierce shot onto the crossbar and his defence gratefully clearly the rebound. Jason Halton and Hayes both pointed two points each before the next green flag, sub Sean O'Connor raising this one.

Cornafean deseverily got on the scoreboard when they converted a penalty and then fired over a point from the resulting kickout but the boys in Green and White were determined to get the last scores of the match with Carney and McMullen both pointing and Tom Hayes burst through the Reds defence to score a great goal to wrap up a great evening for the Celts.
