Cootehill Celtic GAAHistory of Cootehill Celtic GAA Club

Founded in 1894, Cootehill Celtic GAA is celebrating its 115th year in 2009. From its first success winning the Senior League back in 1932, the Celts have won every title going in Cavan at some point in its history; however two Golden eras stand out; the first being in the 1950's  and the other coming at the end of the ‘60s and start of the ‘70’s.

In the 1950’s the Celts captured the 1952 Junior Championship and then followed it up with no less than 3 Senior Championships in a row in '53, '54 and '55!!!

While in the second stand-out period in the club’s history in the late ‘60s/early ‘70s, a host of titles were won in a 5 year spell - the Junior League and Championship were won in ’69, the Intermediate League in ’70 and ’71 as well as the Intermediate Championship in ’71 and then two Senior Leagues in ’72 and ’73.
