Cootehill Celtic GAA Club Notes - 26^th May

SENIORS & JUNIORS

The Seniors got their fourth win of the season with hard fought win over the visiting Swanlinbar team in Hugh O'Reilly Park on Saturday evening. An early John McCutcheon got the Celts off to a good start but they had to hold off a late fightback from Swad to secure the win.

The Juniors won their game against the same opposition in the first half of the doubleheader by three points. The Celts led right from the start of the game and won without hitting any high notes. Final Score: Cootehill Celtic 0-7 to Swanlinbar 0-4.

Next up is another Senior-Junior doubleheader in Hugh O'Reilly Park this Sunday against Cornafean. Juniors throw-in at 1pm with the Seniors starting afterwards at 2.30pm

STRATEGIC PLAN - OPEN FORUM

The club is putting together a Strategic Plan to help decide where the club is heading over the course of the next five years and as part of that process, an open forum workshop will be held on Wednesday 1st June at 8pm in the White Horse Hotel.

This will be an opportunity for all club members and others in the wider Cootehill community to come in and give their views and opinions about the future of the club. You can call in for as little or as long as you want but make sure you take the opportunity to give your views.

UNDER 16s

The Under 16s played Kildallon up in Killeshandra on Tuesday in a crucial league game and ran out 7 point winners.

The young Celts got off to a poor start and were seven points down by the time they opened their account in the 17th minute of the game. Cootehill were ahead 3-6 to 1-7 by the half time whistle and kept ahead after the break.

They will play Killinkere at home next Tuesday in Hugh O'Reilly Park in the final league game where a win will guarantee a 2nd place finish and a spot in the semi-finals.

UNDER 8s AND 10s

The Under 8s and 10s played Knockbride last Wednesday in Hugh O'Reilly Park in a very entertaining game for both teams. They also played Redhills earlier this week. Training as usual for the Under 10s this Saturday at 10.30am in the pitch while the Under 8s will be taking part in a Blitz on the 3G pitch in Kingspan Breffni Park from 10am.

UNDER 12s

The Under 12s were winners over Shercock last Monday at home in Hugh O'Reilly Park - well done to all involved!

CAVAN MINOR HURLERS

Best of luck to Cootehill Celtic players Fintan Roche, Odhrán O'Reilly, John Carney and Fiachra Hughes and the rest of the Cavan Minor Hurling team who play Armagh in the Ulster Minor Hurling Championship semi-final this Sunday in Páirc Esler, Newry at 5.15pm. Best of luck to Seamus Roche and Seamus Hughes who are selectors with team too.

The numbers for this week's draw took place on Monday in the White Horse Hotel were 2, 23, 27 and 29. There was no winner of the Jackpot but the five weekly winners are: Peter McDermott; Tony Keenan; Don Duffy; Jim Cosgrove; and Patsy Fitzpatrick.

Next week's draw for a jackpot of €8,050 will take place in Nulty's Bar on Monday 30th at 9.30pm. Everyone welcome! Thanks to all for your continued support
