UNDER 8s AND 10s After playing with great success in a Blitz in Drung last Saturday morning, the attentions of the Under 8s and 10s now turn to the own club’s Tournaments which will take place this coming Saturday 1st October. The Under 8s will play for the Noel Connolly Memorial Cup and the 10s will compete for the Tommy Clegg Memorial Cup. Five other clubs, Redhills, Knockbride, Drumgoon, Drung and Kill, will take part meaning there will be over 150 children playing in our pitch. Throw in is at 10.30am. There is a lot of work involved in hosting these tournaments so if anyone is available to help out at any stage – even half an hour, don’t be shy and come out! And all support will be very welcome also!
SENIORS Still no word on when the final game of the Division 2 league will take place. The Seniors still can be promoted depending on an away win against Killinkere and other results while a victory would certainly see them capture a semi-final spot. Keep an eye on our website for any and all updates.
NEWSLETTER Keep an eye out around the town in the next week for the first edition of the club’s brand new newsletter!
NURSERY PROGRAMME The club will be running a Nursery Programme in the next weeks which will cater for Junior and Seniors Infants (Under 6s). The sessions will last for an hour and will take place indoors – more details in next week’s notes.
ANNUAL DINNER DANCE Cootehill Celtic GAA is holding their dinner dance this year in the Errigal Country Hotel, Cootehill on Friday 2nd December. In what promises to be a great night’s craic, the club will honour the 1971 Intermediate League and Championship winning side. Tickets will available in the near future from the committee with price and entertainment to be confirmed closer to the date. The club’s Annual General Meeting will also be held the following Sunday 4th so it is definitely a weekend to savour for all the Gaels of Cootehill. For any more information email pro.cootehill.cavan@gaa.ie
ALL-IRELAND LADIES INTERMEDIATE FINAL Well done to Christine McCutcheon and Elaine O’Connor who played for Cavan Ladies on Sunday against Westmeath in Croke Park in the All Ireland Intermediate Championship Final. The Breffni Ladies, despite being on top for most of the game, had to battle back to secure a draw late in the match forcing a replay. Details of the replay will be on the club’s website. Well done again to the two former Celts!!
CARDIAC SCREENING FOR GAA PLAYERS The club, in conjunction with Dr. Fiona O’ Hea, are hosting a Cardiac Screening session for all players in Darley Health Centre on Saturday 8th October. The screening will consist of completion of the GAA’s Cardiac Screening Questionnaire, a Physical Examination and an ECG. Cootehill Celtic GAA and Dr. Fiona O’Hea would like to stress that all players are assured of complete confidentiality and that their screening tests results are discussed only with themselves (or with parents in the case of juvenile players). Juvenile players presenting for screening must have the consent form below signed. Results from screenings are not made available to the club. A small charge of 2 euro per person will be charged and money collected will be used to defray the cost of any ECG’s which may require further investigation. Check out the website for more info and more details will appear in next week’s notes.
