Cootehill Celtic Club Notes - 26th January
MEMBERSHIP The membership is now due for this season and can be paid to club registrar Kieran McCarville or any of the committee members. Family membership (2 adults and any number of children under 18) is €60; Juvenile membership is €5; Student membership is €10 and adult is €25. Membership is also available online…
CAVAN SENIORS Cavan defeated UUJ last Wednesday week in Kingspan Breffni Park in the final game of the Dr. McKenna Cup. Cootehill's John McCutcheon came off the bench at half time to help Cavan to a 16 points to 3-5 victory. Cavan are next in action in the NFL Division 3 opener away to Wexford on Saturday week.
FOOTBALL The Minor footballers have already taken back to Hugh O’Reilly Park for training in preparation for the start of the Minor league on 12th February. The Division 2 league will begin on 17/18th February with a home fixture against Killinkere and an away game against Kill the following weekend so the Senior and Junior panels are also back in action already. The Under 16s will start the competitive season on Saturday week (4th Feb) as they take part in the Christy Sheils Memorial Tournament (Sevens Competition) in Kingspan Breffni Park.
JUVENILE REGISTRATION The club are hosting a Juvenile registration morning on Saturday week (4th Feb) in the Dressing Rooms in Hugh O'Reilly Park from 10am to 12 noon. This will be an excellent opportunity for parents to register their children from Under 6s right up to Minors, pay their fee and fill out any of the relevant forms. There will be another opportunity on Tuesday (7th Feb) evening from 7.30 to 9.30pm. Adult membership can also be paid at the same time.
EVENTS CALENDAR Among the many changes to the website in recent days, the Events Calendar is sure to be a valuable and popular addition. The calendar features a range of events including matches, conferences, workshops, clotto draws and many more across all levels of the GAA from Cootehill Celtic senior and underage games to Cavan games and Ulster Council events. Some of the fixtures are already in place as far into the future as September (albeit provisionally) so make sure and check out here as the Event Calendar will be updated regularly.
COACHING There are a number of Coaching related workshops, conferences and courses coming up in the next couple of weeks. The Ulster GAA Coaching & Games Development Conference will take this Saturday 28th January in the Glenavon House Hotel, Cookstown. While an Ulster Council workshop on ‘Developing Tackling’ will take place in Kingspan Breffni Park on Wednesday next (1st Feb) from 7.30pm to 9pm. Prior Registration is not required for the workshop and it is free of charge. A Foundation Coaching course will take place on 10/11th February in Kingspan Breffni Parkand an Award 1 Youth/Adult Coaching Course will be held on the 10/11th and 17/18th of February. If you wish to attend any of these courses you must register through the club’s Coaching Officer Aidan McCabe on 086-3381427. CLOTTO Don't forget that you or your family can support Cootehill Celtic GAA wherever you are in the world by playing our weekly clotto online on our website! Even if you don't use it yourself, spread the word to friends and family as it is a vital source of income for the club. The numbers for this week's draw took place last Monday in the Bellamont Arms were 18, 24, 25 and 26. There was no winner of the Jackpot but the five weekly winners are: Jim Halton; Gerry McDonagh; Eileen McDermott; Emma Mamo; and Bernadette O'Loughlin. Next week's Jackpot will be worth €2,700 and the draw will be held in the West End Bar at 8.30pm on Monday 30th. Please note earlier time of draw. Everyone welcome!
