Young Celts Nursery Programme: Christmas Party

The first stage of the Young Celts Nursery Programme concluded in a fitting festival manner with a Christmas Party late last month. The new initiative from Cootehill Celtic GAA caters for the Under 6 children (boys and girls) within the club and started in early November running for 7 weeks concluding just before the school term finished for the year.

The programme, based on the Ulster Council’s ‘Gaelic Start’, gave the children an introduction to Gaelic Football in a fun filled environment all the time under the guidance of a host of qualified coaches.

It has been an unqualified success so far with nearly 60 kids present on the final Saturday morning and is another example of the good work being done at Juvenile level by the club in recent years.

The children, with both school-goers and pre-schoolers present, were treated to some fun games, sweets, GAA themed festive colouring sheets and were all presented with a Cert of Achievement for completing the first term of the Programme. But the highlight of the morning was surely a visit from Santa Claus himself who had a special present of a Cootehill Celtic t-shirt for every child!

Judging by the smiles on the faces of all present (parents and children alike!) it was an excellent way to finish off the first stage of the new programme!! The club would like to thank everyone who made it happen especially all the parents and the coaches and the Young Celts Nursery Programme will re-start later next month.
